Xpressive
Creative Arts and Music Program for Students (“CAMPS”)
Classes will be held at 2603 Niles Avenue in St. Joseph, just south of Napier Ave.
Kids’ CAMP For grades K-2
Kids CAMP will teach young students the language of music; how to read music, what notes sound like, intervals, and basic melodies. Students will learn proper singing posture and techniques while preparing for a performance in front of an audience at the end of the term.
Boot CAMP For grades 3-7
Boot CAMP at Xpressive, much like in the army, is preparation for more advanced performance. Students will review the language of music, and learn the theory of chords, progressions, and vocal harmonies in preparation for a vocal performance at term’s end.
Boot CAMP will be extended in the future to the older age group for those students who have had little or no musical training, but on a more accelerated basis.
Symphonix For Grades 8-12
Symphonix at its beginnings, will be much like Boot CAMP for the younger students, but will develop more of an understanding of the Theory of Music, the Physics of Sound, and jazz harmonies. Eventually, Symphonix will be offered by invitation to students who have mastered the practices and ideas in Boot CAMPs, and will become Xpressive’s elite vocal performing group, with multiple opportunities to perform and to compete with other high school groups at vocal competitions.
First term:$80/student
Once weekly on Fridays, September 8 through January 15 (No classes November 27, December 25 or January 1)

There will be a parents’ meeting at the beginning of each term.Watch for dates through e-mail.
Workbooks may be required for some classes. Uniforms for performance will be determined by the instructor with input from parents at upcoming parents’ meeting.
